In Tibetan Buddhism, the Dorje or Vajra is known to as the thunderbolt representing the male aspect of method and is used for the attainment of enlightenment. The Dorje should be held in the right hand. The shape of the Dorje symbolizes the two forms of truth, relative and absolute. A vajra is a ritual weapon or tool symbolizing the properties of a diamond (indestructibility) and a thunderbolt (irresistible force).
The dorje/vajra is a type of club with a ribbed spherical head. The ribs may meet in a ball-shaped top, or they may be separate and end in sharp points with which to stab. It is used symbolically to represent firmness of spirit and spiritual power. According to the Hindu religion, the dorje/vajra is considered one of the most powerful weapons in the universe.
